At the border of the social sector and the paramedical sector, medico-psychological assistance, or AMP, is a professional exercising daily closer to patients.

To exercise the profession of AMP, it is imperative to hold the DEAES (State Diploma of Educational and Social Accompanist). DEAES has been in effect since 2016. It is a V level diploma. The training lasts between 12 and 24 months (initial training or continuing education). She is also eligible for VAE, after three years of professional experience, as well as financeable by the CPF.

The DEAES is divided into three specialties:

  • Accompaniment of home life.
  • Accompaniment of life in a collective structure.
  • Accompaniment towards inclusive education and ordinary life.

The training program covers the professional environment, the daily accompaniment of the person, the animation of the social and civic life, the professional relations, etc.

To integrate the training, however, it is necessary to pass an entrance examination, consisting of an eligibility test and an admission test.

The eligibility test consists of a two-hour writing while the admission test is conducted in the form of an oral examination in front of a jury (series of questions on the motivation of the candidate, his knowledge of the profession and the medico-social sector). Holders of certain degrees in the social, health and medical sector are exempted from the eligibility test (CAP early childhood, CAPA services in rural areas, state diploma of a family assistant, …).
